A brief word about me

I am originally from Greece and have spent 17 years living in London, where I was working as a Yoga teacher in health clubs, as well as giving private tuition. I was also working as a journalist in London, writing about yoga and alternative health and spirituality, mainly for IPC Media’s Prediction magazine.

Leaving London, I took a year off work to go travelling round the world, visiting South America, Australia, Japan, Thailand and India. During this year of travelling I completed a three-month teacher training course in Agama-style yoga in Thailand. Here I studied Hatha yoga, Tantra philosophy, Pranayama and meditation. Along with my existing qualifications for teaching Shivananda-style yoga, this now gives me the opportunity to teach a wide variety of yoga styles, to suit individual students.

I also speak English, Spanish and Italian, as well as my native Greek, so am able to teach yoga in a variety of languages.

Education

1992-1994: Dante Alighieri, Diploma in Italian Language and Culture, Rome, Italy.

1994-1995: LCPCS, HND in Communication studies, London, UK.

1996-1999: LCPCS, BA (Hons) Media and Cultural Studies, London, UK.

1997-1998: Erasmus, Sciencia de Communication, Madrid, Spain.

My work experience

2001-2003: IPC Media, London. I was a part-time photographer and picture researcher for several IPC magazines.

2003-2006: IPC Media, London. I wrote articles on holistic and alternative therapies for Prediction magazine.

2003-2007: I worked as a Yoga instructor for health clubs in London, including Fitness First, Homes Place and David Lloyds (I have letters of reference from these clubs). I also gave private yoga lessons to students in the London area.

My yoga qualifications

2004: Sivananda Yoga Centre, TTC Diploma ‘YOGA SIROMANI‘, No- 14853. This was a 40-day course living inside the ashram in Neyyar Dam, Kerala, India.

2005: One Peace Organisation. This was a one-month course of studies in Zen philosophy and meditation, Lumbini, Nepal.

2007: Agama Yoga, Certificate of achievement No 19383. This was a one-month intensive course in Dharamsala, India.

2008: Agama Yoga, Instructors Certificate No 01067. This was a three-month, full time, 500-hour course in Koh Pa Ngan, Thailand.

2003-2007: Over this period I have taken part in (and helped to organise) numerous workshops in different styles and types of yoga. These include the following styles: Anusara, Jivamurti, Iyengar, Sivananda, plus Hatha, Tantra and Swara yoga.

Personal interests

I am a long-time practitioner of the ancient Chinese art of I Ching, regularly giving readings to assist people when they are making important decisions about their lives.

I also enjoy reading, making jewellery and studying astrology - I am especially interested in Mayan and Vedic astrology. I have a strong interest in health and nutrition, having formerly written on these subjects. This knowledge of nutrition also helps when giving advice to my yoga students, who may want to loose weight or get into better physical shape. I have been strictly vegetarian in my own diet for over 15 years.

I also love travelling and visit India on a regular basis, taking part in various yoga courses and retreats. I have also just taken a year off work to go travelling round the world, visiting the following countries: Mexico, Cuba, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Easter Island, New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Japan, Hong Kong, India and Thailand.
